Beulah Park Opens Fall Meet Saturday

Grove City, Ohio  – Beulah Park, central Ohio’s only thoroughbred race track, is set to throw open the gates for its fall meeting this Saturday afternoon.

The 2005 fall season at Beulah Park consists of 68 live days and will mark the 82nd year of the sport of kings. The fall season will run through Wednesday December 21.

The first two weeks of the meeting will offer live racing four days a week—Wednesday through Saturday.

Beginning the third week of the season, racing moves to a five-day a week format with live thoroughbred programs Tuesday through Saturday. Beulah Park will team up with Thistledown for combined “7 & 7” programs everyday but Tuesday.

Post times are 1:15 p.m. through October 29. From there, the first race will begin at 12:25 p.m. on all 7 & 7 days and 12:55 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Highlighting the ’05 fall session is the Best of Ohio day slated for Saturday October 1 highlighting the best thoroughbreds in the State. A special Columbus Day program will be run Monday October 10 featuring the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress trials.

The 2005 Breeders’ Cup takes the spotlight Saturday October 29 when it will be broadcast live from Belmont Park in New York.

Both leading trainer Reid Gross and leading jockey Edgar Paucar from the ’05 spring will be back to defend their respective titles.

“We are expecting a great fall season,” said Beulah Park Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Weiss. “We have just completed a total re-surfacing of our race track and we are getting lots of praise from incoming horsemen on the new surface.”

General parking is $1, while general admission remains at $2 with no additional charge for Clubhouse seating. Simulcast wagering is conducted at Beulah Park seven days a week.
