Paucar Wins Riding Title,
Sets Modern Day Record

Grove City, Ohio  – 29-year-old Edgar Paucar clinched his first career riding title with an impressive showing at the 2005 Winter/Spring meet at Beulah Park. Native to Lima, Peru, Paucar is one of several Peruvian jockey that have had success riding in North America. Paucar began his U.S career at the Massachusetts Fair before shifting his tack to Suffolk Downs near Boston Mass.

Paucar’s 103 victories set the modern day record at Beulah Park for most wins by a jockey at the Winter/Spring meet. The record was 93 set by Jorge Guerra. Ivan Gonzales finished second with 63 wins while Yuri Yaranga was third with 50 victories.

Paucar’s 105 victories for 2005 ranks him in the top five of jockeys in the country. Paucar currently trails Russell Baze and Rodney Prescott.

Paucar is married and looks to parlay his success this winter into a prosperous summer.
