Noon Win Rebounds in Royal North Stakes

Ronald De Wolf’s Noon Win
made here first start of 2005 a victorious one by striding away to victory
in the $40,000 Royal North Stakes at Beulah Park on Saturday. Six Ohio-bred
fillies battled as Queens Over Jacks took charge with Noon Win following in
close pursuit. Turning into the lane, Queens Over Jacks darted away but was
quickly collared by Noon Win with less than a furlong to the finish. Drawing
clear to a 2-1/4-length victory, Noon Win covered the six furlongs in 1:10
2/5, 2/5 of a second faster than March Dancer in the Howard B Noonan stakes
on March 26, 2005.
Ridden by Ernesto Oro for
trainer Joe Martin, Noon Win paid $8.60, $3.40 and $2.40. Queens Over Jacks
faded to second and returned $3.00 and $2.40. Cloud Forty Nine chased the
pacesetters to finish third and had a show payoff of $2.60
Notching her fourth win
in seven starts, Noon Win pushed her career earning to over $110,000. This
victory also improved her record to three for three lifetime at six furlongs.

Catlaunch Fires In Beulah Feature

Scioto Farms Supply,
Inc.’s Catlaunch took charge early and drew clear from a competitive field
in the featured race at Beulah Park on Wednesday. Seven allowance runners
faced-off as Catlaunch dashed to the lead with R S Express in hot pursuit to
his outside. Turning for home Catlaunch shrugged off the challenger and drew
off to a convincing 3-¼-length victory. The running time for the six
furlongs over the fast track was 1:11 2/5.
Ridden by Hector Rosario,
Jr. for conditioner Albert Palacios, Catlaunch returned $3.20, $2.40 and
$2.20 as the favorite in the wagering. Quiet Soul rallied from last to
finish second and paid $3.00 and $3.00. R S Express faded to third and had a
payoff of $4.00.
Live racing returns to
Beulah Park on Saturday in the form of the Ohio Seven and Seven program with
Thistledown. Saturday’s feature is the running of the $40,000 Royal North
Stakes for 3-year-old Ohio-bred fillies. First post time is set for 1:15 p.m.

Gold Scepter Sparkles In Beulah Feature

Karin Thompson’s Gold
Scepter made her return to Beulah Park a victorious one by winning the
featured race on Tuesday. Six allowance runners squared off as Bricks
Princess, Sheikh and Awe and Patti’s Clown all battled for early supremacy.
Stalking the frontrunners, Gold Scepter slowly reeled in the pacesetters at
the top of the lane and cleared off to a ½ length win. The running time for
the six furlongs over the fast track was 1:12 4/5.
Ridden by Nathan Solomon
for trainer Daniel Thompson, Gold Scepter paid $15.20, $6.40 and $3.40.
Sheikh and Awe pressed the pace before fading to second and returned $3.60
and $2.40. Golden Izzy closed from well back to finish third and paid her
backers $3.00.

Image Of A Cat Claws His Way To Feature Victory

JSR Stables, Inc.’s Image
of a Cat settled just behind the early leaders before pouncing on the
pacesetters to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Monday. Nine claimers
battled as Do It Again Bragg, Tithing Secretary and Mr. Hemmingway vied for
the early lead. Primed to make his move after tracking the dueling
frontrunners, Image of a Cat swung into action at the top of the lane and
wore down the leaders with less than 70 yards to run. Winning by a head,
Image of a Cat stopped the timer in 1:06 3/5 for the 5 ½ furlongs over the
fast track.
Ridden by Luis Martinez,
Jr. for trainer Jake Radosevich, Image of a Cat paid $10.60, $5.60 and
$3.00. Bri’s Bad Boy surged from the back of the pack to finish second and
returned $4.20 and $3.20. Free to Run pressed the pace before fading to
third and returned his backers $4.20.
