Just Michel Impressive In Alyssa Handicap

Just Michel settled behind the early fractions before springing into action
to win the $25,000 Alyssa Handicap at Beulah Park on Saturday. Seven fillies
and mares battled as Red Hot Helen and Bricks Princess dueled for the lead
through the opening furlongs. Moving into the turn Just Michel dashed into
contention and took control around the turn. Cruising away to an
8-3/4-length victory, Just Michel sprinted the six furlongs in 1:10 1/5 over
the fast track. The victory marked the fifth in seven starts over the Beulah
oval for Just Michel.
Ridden by champion rider
Edgar Paucar for trainer Mike Nance, Just Michel paid $2.80, $2.80 and $2.20
as the wagering favorite. Ask Linda closed well for second and returned
$6.80 and $3.20. Red Hot Helen faded to third and had a show payoff of $2.80

Valerina Dances To Upset Victory In Feature

Smith’s Valerina used a change in running styles to her advantage in
springing the mild upset victory at Beulah Park on Friday. Ten starter
allowance fillies and mares dueled as Tracmac and Miss Air Won battled head
and head for the early lead. Stalking the frontrunners, Valerina began to
slowly close the gap and wore down the pacesetters with less than 70 yards
to run. Edging away to a ¾-length win, Valerina covered the six furlongs
over the fast track in 1:12 3/5.
Ridden by Octavio Reyes,
Valerina returned $28.20, $9.80 and $3.40. Celestial Sea closed strongly for
second and paid $3.00 and $2.40 as the wagering favorite. Sandalias closed
from the back of the pack for third and had a payoff of $3.60.

Beulah as well as Kentucky Derby Day. Watch and wager on all the exciting
action from Beulah Park as well as Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Sweet Victory for Seeking the Honey at Beulah Park

Sandra Lee Smith, Mike
Bailey, and Gary Dillion’s Seeking the Honey assumed command early and
pulled away impressively in the featured race at Beulah Park on Wednesday.
Ten Accredited Ohio-bred fillies and mares set sail as Seeking the Honey
darted quickly to the lead. Pressed in earnest by Tiffany’s Award and
Ruthless Bragg, Seeking the Honey repelled her challengers with 5/16 of a
mile to go and drew away down the lane to score the victory. Winning by
9-1/2-lenghts, Seeking the Honey ran the six furlongs over the fast track in
1:12 4/5.
Ridden by Ivan Gonzalez
for trainer Larry E. Smith, Seeking the Honey paid $3.80, $2.60 and $2.60 as
the wagering favorite. Ruthless Bragg hung gamely to second and returned
$5.00 and $3.20. Grey Gallant closed well for third and had a show payoff of
$3.60.
