Owner-trainer Charlie
Lawson’s Convexity survived a stirring stretch duel with Chance Kyl to
conquer the field in the featured race at Beulah Park on Tuesday. Eight
claimers tussled as Convexity, Chance Kyl, Golden Verse and Merryhadalilwolf
all battled for early supremacy. As the field turned for home, Convexity and
Chance Kyl edged away from the pack and dueled for the front through the
final furlongs. Convexity was able to win by a head in a running time of
1:50 4/5 for the 1-1/8 miles over the fast main track.
The Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series is a set of five races run during the
winter meet for claiming horses. The claiming prices rank as high as $10,000
or as low as $4,000. The races extend in distance from 1-1/8 miles to 2-1/4
miles. Leg two will be contested on Tuesday, February 8th 2005 at the
distance of 1-¼ miles.
Ridden by Edgar Paucar, Convexity paid $6.40, $3.40 and $2.40 as the second
choice in the wagering. Chance Kyl finished a game second and returned $4.00
and $2.60. London Lord was a distant third and had a show pay of 2.40.
