Homecoming King Dances Away With Feature
February 5, 2005

Owner-trainer F. Lee McKinney’s Homecoming King rallied late to out-gain favorite Conte Amour in the final strides to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eight allowance runners set sail as Conte Amour and Free to Run cleared away from the field in the early stages. Restrained behind the pace, Homecoming King swung into action at the top of the lane and wore down pacesetter Conte Amour with less than 100 yards to run. The running time for the six furlongs over the fast track was 1:15.

Ridden by Hector Rosario Jr., Homecoming King paid $10.60, $4.20 and $3.40. Conte Amour held on for second and returned $3.20 and $2.80. Hephzi Bah finished third and paid his backers $8.00.

'Clown' Leading Lady In Feature At Beulah

M.Y. Stables Inc.’s Patti’s Clown brushed back all challengers to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Friday. Seven Ohio bred allowance fillies and mares battled as Patti’s Clown and Glory Win dueled for the early lead. Dispatching of her foe with an eighth of a mile to go, Patti’s Clown cleared off to a 3-¾-length victory. The running time for the 5½ furlongs over the fast track was 1:08.

Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Mike Nance, Patti’s Clown paid $4.20, $2.60 and $2.20 as the wagering favorite. Royal Cup rallied strongly for second and returned $3.00 and $2.80. Golden Izzy finished third and had a payoff of $3.00.

Parnell Square Romps In Beulah Park Feature
February 2, 2005

Michael Ryan’s Parnell Square’s class shined through as he galloped to victory in the featured race at Beulah Park on Wednesday. Six allowance runners battled as Pretty Bad Boy and Parnell Square sprinted to the front. Turning for home, the son of Saint Ballado pushed past Pretty Bad Boy and proceeded to draw away to a 6-½-length victory. The running time for the 1 mile over the fast track was 1:39 4/5.

Piloted by Hector Rosario Jr. for trainer Thomas Drury Jr., Parnell Square returned $2.60, $2.20 and $2.10 as the odds-on favorite. Pretty Bad Boy faded to second and paid $3.80 and $2.40. White Angel Light finished a distant third and had a payoff of $2.60.

Charming John Gives Hollendorfer Training Double
February 1, 2005

Matthew Holaday, Mike Jamison and Jerry Hollendorfer’s Charming John made his Beulah Park debut a victorious one by pulling away to win the featured race on Tuesday. Seven claimers clashed as Three Ladies Man and Rollin Me Out dueled for the early lead. Settling back off of the pace, Charming John swung into action as the field reached the top of the stretch, drawing away to a comfortable 2-length victory. Charming John stopped the timer in 1:04 4/5 for the 5 ½ furlongs over the fast going.

Ridden by Cesar Camaque for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who also won the third race with Bellarama ($2.80), Charming John paid $5.20, $2.60 and $2.20 as the wagering favorite. Rapide finished a clear second and returned $2.80 and $2.40. Jessamine Jake rallied strongly for third and paid his backers $6.00.

Bombs Away For ‘Afleet’ In Feature: Paucar Wins 4
January 31, 2005

Owner-trainer Dale Shade’s Kristans Afleet notched her second consecutive victory at Beulah Park this winter by landing home first in the featured race on Monday. Seven top-class allowance runners squared off as Kristans Afleet dashed her way to the lead and never looked back, drawing away to a 2-¼-length victory in a running time of 1:05 for the 5½ furlongs over the fast main track.

Ridden by the star of the day Edgar Paucar, Kristans Afleet paid $12.20, $5.40 and $3.80. Heavily favored Sheikh and Awe finished a disappointing second and returned $3.20 and $2.60. Red Hot Helen faded to third and had a show payoff of $2.80.

In other news 29-year-old Edgar Paucar continues to make an impression at Beulah Park by collection four victories on the Monday card. A graduate of the top-notch Peruvian riding school that produced Edgar Prado and Rafael Bejarano, Paucar began his day by sweeping the early daily double with Robbies Hero ($10.20) in the first and P.M.’s Snacks ($7.20) in the second races. Paucar rounded out his day with Kristans Afleet ($12.20) in the sixth race and Upward Bound ($4.60) in the seventh.

Edgar Paucar begin his U.S riding career at the Massachusetts Fair Circuit before graduating to Suffolk Downs near Boston, Massachusetts. Paucar is married with no children and looks to use Beulah as a springboard to bigger things this summer.
