over the good track.

Hurricane Rib Wins Out In Rainy Feature
February 28, 2005
Ron F. Bates’ Hurricane
Rib took the short way home by diving to the inside part of the track in
beating a classy field in the feature at Beulah Park on Monday. Seven Ohio
bred allowance runners splashed through the sloppy going as Finders Chance
jetted to the lead with Safe Place, the wagering favorite, in hot pursuit.
Settling comfortably in third, Hurricane Rib picked up his pace around the
turn and collard the embattled leaders with 200 yards to travel. Hurricane
Rib dueled with Safe Place through the final sixteenth of a mile, just
nosing out the stubborn Safe Place at the finish line. Hurricane Rib won by
a head in a running time of 1:08 3/5 for the 5½ furlongs.
Ridden by Yuri Yaranga
for trainer C. Louis Bates, Hurricane Rib paid $6.00, $3.20 and $2.80. Safe
