Just Michel Continues to Dominate Beulah Oval

Ohio Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association sponsored
the feature race Saturday at Beulah Park. Pictured (from left) is

M.Y. Stables, Inc’s Just Michel settled in her customary spot near the
rear of the field before dashing past the pacesetters to victory on
Saturday. Five top-notch allowance fillies and mares squared of f as
Jackie’s Hope and Sea of Promises battled for the early lead. Midway
through the lane Just Michel swung into action and roared past the
leaders in the final 70 yards. Winning by ¾ of a length Just Michel
covered the six furlongs over the sloppy track in a swift 1:12 2/5.
Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Mike Nance, Just Michel paid
$3.40, $2.20 and $2.10 as the wagering favorite. Jackie’s Hope
settled for second and returned $4.20 and $3.40. Bag of Quarters
chase the pacesetters to finish third and paid his backers $3.40.

Noble Cup Victorious in Friday Feature

Joe Sugar, Jr. and Eugene Daniels’ Noble Cup pressed the early pace
before powering past the leader to win at Beulah Park. Seven
claimers clashed as Endless Fanfare dashed to the lead with Noble
Cup in close pursuit from the second spot. Moving through the lane
Noble Cup wrestled the lead away from Endless Fanfare and drew away
strongly. Winning by 1 ¼ lengths Noble Cup covered the five furlongs
over the muddy track in 1:01 2/5
Ridden by Luis Martinez, Jr. for trainer William Cowans, Noble Cup
paid $7.40, $3.60 and $2.40. Dry Basin stalked the leaders to finish
second and returned $12.20 and $6.80. Smacker closed well for third
and paid his backers $2.60.

Affirmlode Splashes to Victory at Beulah

Owner/trainer Ivan Vazquez’s Affirmlode stalked the leader through the
rainy conditions before driving past the front-runner to win the
Wednesday feature. Five game allowance runners dueled as R S Express
and Affirmlode clashed for early supremacy. Midway through the lane
it appeared as R S Express was going to draw away when Affirmlode
surged past the leader with less than 70 yards to run. Winning by 2
lengths Affirmlode covered the one mile over the sloppy track in
1:45 1/5.
Ridden by Jorge Collazo, Jr., Affirmlode paid $15.20, $5.80 and
$5.20. R S Express held on to second and returned $4.60 and $4.20.
Locker chased the pacesetters to finish third and returned his
backers $3.60.

City Rapid Too Tough for Competition at Beulah

Owner-trainer Charlie Lawson’s City Rapid assumed his customary spot
near the head of affairs and powered away gamely to win the Tuesday
feature. A compact field of five starter allowance runners squared
off as Sleet Rod and City Rapid battled for the early lead. Halfway
around the final turn City Rapid began to turn up the pressure on
Sleet Rod and took command at the top of the lane. Winning by 5 ¾
lengths City Rapid covered the 5 ½ furlongs over the fast track in
1:08.
Ridden by Edgar Paucar, City Rapid returned $4.60, $3.20 and $2.20
as the wagering favorite. Three Ladies Man closed well for second
and paid $10.60 and $3.20. The Rejected Stone stalked the early lead
before fading to third and paid his backers $2.20

Dare He Goes To Victory at Beulah Park
March 6, 2006
Phyllis Gayheart’s Dare He Goes settled just behind a hotly contested
pace before blowing by the weakening pacesetters to win the Monday
feature. Seven Ohio bred allowance/optional claiming horses dueled
as Blazing Forest, Geist Buster, Turnpike Mike, Here Comes Bragg and
Wirebender all contested the early lead. Midway through the lane
Wirebender began to pull away until Dare He Goes dashed by in the
final 100 yard. Winning by ¾ of a length Dare He Goes covered the
six furlongs over the good track in 1:14 3/5.
Ridden by Paul Melancon for trainer Troy Gayheart, Dare He Goes paid
$13.00, $4.80 and $4.40. Wirebender held gamely to second and
returned $4.60 and $3.60. Quiet Soul closed strongly for third and
had a payoff of $5.40
