Marketable Finds The Range In The Glacial Princess

Larry Lehmann and Fair Winds Farm’s Marketable overcame all obstacles to pull out the victory in the $40,000 Glacial Princess Stakes at Beulah Park on Saturday. Eight accredited Ohio bred fillies battled as Marketable was pinched back at the start by pacesetter Cloud Forty Nine. Undaunted by the setback, Marketable composed herself and re-rallied around the final turn to outrun Cloud Forty Nine and win by a neck. The running time for the 1 mile and 70 yards over the fast track was 1:49 1/5.

Trained by Tim Hamm and ridden by Hector Rosario Jr., Marketable paid $6.80, $3.20 and $2.40. Cloud Forty Nine dug in gamely for second and returned $3.40 and $2.40. Liberty Mill wilted to third and had a payoff of $4.00.

Foe Fives Cashes In The Beulah Park Feature

Owner-trainer Robert Watkins Foe Five unleashed a tremendous rally to collar Parkers Chapel in the final 70 yards of the featured race at Beulah Park on Friday. An accomplished field of nine horses set sail, as He’s a Lover and J.R.’s Town battled gamely for the top spot. Turning for home, Parkers Chapel and Elite Guard engulfed the front-runners as Foe Fives bided his time. Weaving his way through traffic, Foe Fives was able to push by a stubborn Parkers Chapel to win by a head. The running time for the six furlongs was 1:12 2/5.

Ridden by Joseph Sanchez, Foe Fives returned $16.00, $6.00 and $3.80. Parkers Chapel held second and paid $3.40 and $3.00. Elite Guard faded to third and paid his backers $2.80.

Live racing returns to Beulah Park on Saturday with the Ohio seven and seven program. Saturday’s feature is the running of the $40,000 Glacial Princess. Nine two-year-old accredited Ohio bred fillies are set to square off at the distance of one mile and seventy yards. First post is set for 12:25 p.m.

Ms Majestic Lady Takes Her Throne In Feature

Tim Disney’s Ms Majestic Lady soundly defeated a competitive field of $4,000 claimers to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Tuesday. Dragging jockey Paul Nolan to the lead, Ms Majestic Lady set some quick early fractions but was able to reserve plenty to extend the winning margin to 6-1/4-lengths. The running time of 1:44 3/5 for the 1 mile 70 yards over the muddy track was the fastest of the meet at that distance.

Trained by Kenneth A. Morgan, Ms Majestic Lady paid $10.00, $4.20 and $3.40. Perfect Darling was second and returned $4.40 and $3.40. Tache finished a distant third and had a payoff of $4.20.

Count On My Word Comes Through In The Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap

Bona Fortuna, Ltd.’s Count On My Word made his return to Beulah Park a victorious one by drawing away to by ¾ of a length in the $40,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial on Sunday. Eight accredited Ohio bred horses squared off as Watch Me Fire and Quiet Soul sped to the lead in the opening stages. Saving ground throughout, Count On My Word began to uncork a rally moving into the last turn and overhauled the tiring pacesetters in the final 70 yards. The running time for the 1-¼ mile over the good track was 2:06, the fastest time for that distance this meet.

Jockey Ernesto Oro said, “ He didn’t mind the muddy track at all. I had to take him back on the first turn to get over to the rail. I didn’t have a lot of running room down the stretch. He is a big hearted horse” The 28-year-old native of Lima, Peru collected his first stake today aboard Count On My Word. Oro has been riding in the United States for 2 months and is based at Thistledown in Cleveland, Ohio.

Trained by Joe Martin, Count On My Word paid $6.20, $4.20 and $3.20. Brent’s Challanger put in a nice rally for second and returned $4.00 and $2.80. Quiet Soul pressed the pace before fading to third with a payoff of $4.40.
