Go For Leslie Triumphant In Beulah Park Feature

John W. Barker’s Go For Leslie unleashed a powerful run in the final furlongs to pull of a huge upset in the featured race at Beulah Park on Saturday. Ten tough claimers maneuvered over the muddy going as Talavesa and Britt’s Babe disputed for the early lead. Unhurried, Go For Leslie slowly began to pick up the pace as the field turned into the home stretch and overtook the pacesetters with less than 100 yards to the finish. Go For Leslie was able to grab the lead and hold off late closing Shake the Dust to win by a neck in 1:14 1/5 for the six furlongs.

Ridden by Yuri Yaranga for trainer James R. Barker, Go For Leslie paid $64.40, $20.20 and $9.60 as the second longest price in the wagering. Shake the Dust put in a mild rally to finish second and returned $28.80 and $17.20. Britt’s Babe faded to third and returned her backers $4.40.

I’macraftychoice Smooth In Victory At Beulah Park

Volar Corporation’s I’macraftychoice over-powered pacesetter Truly Honored in the final 100 yards to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Friday. Settling off of the quick early pace, I’macraftychoice began to slowly reel in the leader as they ran past the ¼ pole and dashed toward the finish line. I’macraftychoice drew even with Truly Honored at the 1/8 pole and pulled away to a 1 ½ length victory in a running time of 1:12 for the six furlongs over the sloppy surface.

Ridden by Ramon Luna for trainer Felicia Campbell, I’macraftychoice paid $6.40, $3.00 and $2.20. Truly Honored finished a beaten second and returned $3.20 and $2.40 as the favorite in the wagering. Kentucky Wind rallied on for third and had a payoff of $3.00.

Convexity Runs By Them All In The Feature
December 9, 2004

Owner-trainer Charlie Lawson’s Convexity made his first start for his new connections a winning one by digging in gamely to be victorious in the featured race at Beulah Park on Thursday. Nine strong start allowance foes squared off as Foe Fives and Steel On Target sprinted to the front. Dodging the raindrops, Convexity splashed on just off of the pace. Turning for home, Foe Fives began to weaken as Convexity sped up to his outside, forging by and saving enough to hold off the late-closing Quiet Soul in the final furlong. Convexity won by a head in a running time of 1:44 4/5 for the 1mile and 70 yards over the muddy track.

Ridden by Edgar Paucar, Convexity paid $7.20, $ $5.80 and $4.00. Quiet Soul rallied on well for second and returned $4.80 and $3.20. Southern Pioneer closed strongly for third and had a payoff of $4.80.

Scioto Bootski Splashes Home A Winner

Scioto Farm Supply Inc.’s Scioto Bootski took command early and drew away from the field to win the featured race at Beulah Park on Tuesday. Eight accomplished allowance runners battled through the bog as Scioto Bootski and Blazing Forest dueled with each other for the lead. Once dispatching her foe at the top of the lane, Scioto Bootski began drawing away and left plenty in reserve to stay clear of the late closing One Bad Dude through the final furlong. Scioto Bootski cleared off to a 4-1/2-length victory in a running time of 1:06 1/5 for the 5 ½ furlongs over the sloppy surface.

Ridden by Hector Rosario Jr. for trainer Albert Palacios, Scioto Bootski returned $4.20, $2.80 and $2.80 as the heavy wagering favorite. One Bad Dude rallied on well for second and paid $4.40 and $4.40. Blazing Forest faded to third and returned his backers $6.00.

Meggy Girl Victorious In Beulah Park Feature

M.Y. Stables, Inc.’s Meggy Girl made her Interstate 71 trip a prosperous one winning the featured race of the day at Beulah Park on Sunday. Eight Ohio bred maiden 2-year-old fillies feuded as favored Kaeli’s Glance darted to the front with Grey Gallant and Deans Mill in close pursuit. Meggy Girl, bidding her time behind the frontrunners, made her move around the turn to over-take the leaders with less than a furlong to the finish. Meggy Girl drew away to a 3-3/4-length victory in a running time of 1:15 for the six furlongs over the fast track.

Ridden by Edgar Paucar for trainer Mike Nance, Meggy Girl returned $13.40, $8.20 and $5.20. Grey Gallant battled on gamely for second and paid $12.60 and $3.80. Kaeli’s Glance wilted to third and returned her backers $3.00.
