Pyrite Angel Tenacious In Victory At Beulah Park

Faulkner’s Pyrite Angel overcame many obstacles in defeating a classy field
of $5,000 claimers in the feature at Beulah Park on Saturday. Breaking from
his outside post position, Pyrite Angel was spun 5-wide into the first turn
in the one-mile contest. After settling down and finding a spot along the
rail, Pyrite Angel was squeezed-back between rivals moving into the second
turn. Regrouping, Pyrite Angel found clear running room in the final
furlongs to thunder home a 3-¼-length victor. The running time of 1:41 2/5
was the second fastest of the Beulah Park fall meet.
Ridden by leading jockey
Marco Ccamaque, Pyrite Angel paid $4.80, $3.20 and $3.00 as the wagering
favorite. Accountable Guy dueled on for second and returned $6.00 and $4.20.
Foe Fives made a huge move around the turn before fading to third, paying
off $4.00.
Live racing resumes at
Beulah Park Sunday with the Ohio seven and seven program. Tomorrow’s feature
is the $40,000 Ohio Freshman Stakes for 2-year-old accredited Ohio bred
colts and geldings. First post time for Sunday’s card will be 12:25 p.m.
Generously Conquers Them All In Feature

Generously trounced a field of eleven rivals in the featured race at Beulah
Park on Friday. Breaking sharply from the gate at the start, Generously was
allowed to settle behind the swift fractions set by Jet Ski and Glad
Tidings. Jockey Yuri Yuranga asked Generously to pick up the pace and he
responded, clearing off to a three-length victory over the muddy Beulah Park
oval. The running time for the six furlongs was 1:12 1/5.
Trained by Reid Gross,
Generously paid $12.80, $7.40 and $5.00. Pacesetter Glad Tidings wilted to
second and returned $7.20 and $5.20. Sword of the South rallied for third
and returned his backers $6.00.

Sparkling Amber Illuminates Tote Board In Feature

Sparkling Amber sprinted to victory in the featured race at Beulah Park on
Thursday. Eight Ohio-bred allowance runners squared off as Norway Hope
controlled the tempo through the first quarter of a mile. Sparkling Amber
revved up to her outside and swiftly drew off around the turn. Pink Meow
made a belated run but Sparkling Amber’s lead was insurmountable as she drew
away to win by 1-½ lengths.
The running time for the six
furlongs over the fast track was 1:15.
Accompanied by jockey
Joseph Sanchez for trainer Karen McCleary, Sparkling Amber returned $35.80,
$15.00 and $5.40 as the third longest shot in the wagering. Pink Meow held
the place spot and paid $5.40 and $2.80. The heavily favored Tin Lip checked
in third and returned her backers $2.80.

Round Rock Rolls In Bluegrass Warrior Series Leg 3

Rock overpowered odds-on favorite Chief Cahill in the final 70 yards to win
leg 3 of the Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series at Beulah Park. A compact
field of six claimers was dispatched as Chief Cahill took his customary spot
at the lead. Round Rock uncorked a rally around the final of three turns in
the 1-½ mile contest. Chief Cahill dueled gamely but succumbed to defeat.
Round Rock drew away to a 1-¼ length victory in a running time of 2:37 over
the fast track.The
Bluegrass Warrior Distance Series is a set of five races for claiming horses
at the Beulah Park meet. The claiming price of each horse ranges from
$10,000 down to $4,000. The Series began with Chief Cahill winning the first
two legs at 1 1/8 and 1-¼ miles respectively. Leg 4 will be contest at the
distance of 1-¾ miles. The final leg will be December 21st at the distance
of 2 miles.
Ridden by Hector Rosario
Jr. for trainer A. J Hamilton, Round Rock returned $8.60 and $5.80, as there
was no show wagering. Convexity wore down Chief Cahill for second and paid
$6.60.

Mercer’s Launch Fires In The Scarlet And Gray

Scioto Farms Supply Inc’s Mercer’s Launch demolished a field of eleven
accomplished Ohio bred fillies and mares to win the $40,000 Scarlet and Gray
Handicap at Beulah Park on Sunday. Breaking alertly from the gate, Mercer’s
Launch blazed to the lead and ran off to an 8-¼-length victory. The running
time of 1:10 2/5 for the six furlongs was the fastest time of the meet.
Jockey Ivan Gonzalez said, “She broke well and I let her speed do the rest.
She had been working well in the mornings and I told Albert (Palacios) that
it should be an easy race for her.”
Trained by “ El Grand Senor” Albert Palacios, Mercer’s Launch paid $2.80,
$3.00 and $2.20 as the heavy favorite. Her entry mate Scioto Bootski was a
distant second and returned the same as the winner. Cleveland invader
Heavenly Jet finished third and had a payoff of $6.60.
According to trainer Albert Palacios, Mercer’s Launch, now 9 for 32
lifetime, will race until late December.

post at 12:55 p.m.
